GAVLAK returns to Art Basel Miami Beach with a group presentation of works that highlights the gallery’s commitment to cross-generational dialogues, material innovation, and practices that expand the language of contemporary abstraction, figuration, and conceptual inquiry.
At the center of the presentation are new works by Lita Albuquerque, Jose Alvarez (D.O.P.A.), Andrew Brischler, Jessica Cannon, Renée Condo, Nir Hod, Field Kallop, Kris Knight, Nancy Lorenz, Marilyn Minter, Maynard Monrow, T.J. Wilcox, and Rob Wynne, among others, each exploring rhythm, perception, and the poetics of transformation through distinct approaches to color, form, and materiality.

Debuting at the fair is Albuquerque’s Untitled (2025), a radiant circular gold form suspended against a field of deep pigment, evoking celestial bodies and thresholds between earthly and cosmic space. Similarly, Cannon introduces atmospheric paintings built through meticulous layers of stippled marks—radiant sunbursts and swelling horizon lines that meditate on cycles of light, landscape, and renewal. Kallop debuts Silent Hours (2025), a vibrant chromatic field animated by circular rhythms and celestial calibrations that map the quiet structures of time.

Also on view at the fair are new works by Renée Condo, a Mi’gmaq artist whose practice merges traditional materials with contemporary abstraction, presents intricate new bead-on-panel works, including Ga’qanei (2025). This symmetrically unfolding composition evokes kinship, cosmology, and the encoded geometries of Indigenous knowledge systems. Parallel to Art Basel Miami Beach, Condo’s work is currently on view in a solo exhibition at GAVLAK and she recently contributed to the 65th edition of the Montreal Museum of Fine Art’s Museum Ball.
Completing the booth is a curated selection of works that highlight influential voices across generations—ranging from Helen Frankenthaler and Loie Hollowell, Robert Nava, and Vera Lutter. Spanning painting, sculpture, photography, and glass, these works reflect the gallery’s longstanding commitment to artists who challenge established aesthetics and expand material and conceptual boundaries.
